The Original Factory Shop

We created a hugely successful iOS and Android customer engagement and loyalty app, that onboarded over 150,000 users in its first year.

The Project

In a brief to transform major retailer The Original Factory Shop’s (TOFS) digital proposition, we embarked on an app project. This would be an offer focused app with an integrated loyalty scheme in the form of collecting badges, allowing for in-store purchases to be discounted at checkout.

The app presented an opportunity for a new direct communication channel between TOFS with their customers, providing app members with special in-app offers and benefits, whilst simultaneously driving engagement with the brand. Amongst the other benefits of the app was the ability to achieve direct customer feedback, whilst providing them with the immediacy of an app on their mobile devices which can then be tailored to their user profiles and lets them receive alerts and bonus offers for being an app user.

The custom loyalty scheme was built bespoke for this app, and is easily accessible for all users. Different badges can be earned by every customer, whether through spend or referrals for the app. This bespoke scheme has led to a marked increase in users of the app, and also has begun to reap the benefits in store as well!

tofs scratch and win

An extra incentive we built into the app was a further bespoke scratchcard game. In this free to enter game, users have the opportunity to scratch and win a discount / incentive for a TOFS store. This is refreshed every day for use, and keeps driving engagement with the TOFS app by letting them play and have a chance to win just by scanning the app.

With the app and its various discount offers and push notifications for users to make them aware of the latest of these discount launches, it was important we installed a dynamic CMS that made control over these notifications and content changes in the app that was easy to use for the TOFS internal team, but also flexible to scale for future growth and developments planned for the future of the app.

The outcome

We created, launched and support the TOFS app that has attracted over 150,000 users in its first year. App users have also been seen to shop more often and spend more money on average per shop. Existing TOFS customers have embraced the app and new customers have been attracted because of it. We’re extremely proud of the app and all it has achieved to date, and we’re excited for the next phase and the exciting plans to come to grow it further.
